Midwest Game Show Classic 2006 Segment 1 Notes:

◊ Originally contestants were going to play games and talk to the organizers before the show in order to choose the four player we would use. Instead, contestant's names were picked out of a hat just before the show began.

◊ We mixed in both "hard" and "easy" questions into the trivia in order to get both teams to use their tolkens for the video game challenges. Instead of taking the video challenges, however, many times the contestants knew the answers to the "hard" questions and other times they simply guessed instead of risking that the other team might know the answer.

◊ There were four possible games for each of the four systems there (Atari 2600, NES, Turbo Grafx and the Dreamcast) for the video challenges. Originally we were concerned that contestants might play so many games that we might run out, but as it turned out they only played a handful - Punch Out!!, Centipede, Asteroids, and Contra.

◊ John Luedtke, a Bonk fanatic, had Bonk's Adventure on display during all of the trivia segments in an effort to get someone to play it. Unfortunately, no one ever played the Turbo...

◊ The Dreamcast was also unfortunately snubbed by contestants. Had the system's first video challenge, Cool Herders, been chosen, it would have pitted the two teams against one another in this Bomberman-style game.

◊ Games were originally going to be played on a projector screen behind Team Fremont's hosts, but a last minute change caused us to put the games on the largest TV we had available at the time - a 27" TV.

◊ The entire "audience participation" angle of the MWGSC was included in the show's concept two days before the MWGC. The audience participation turned out to be one of the most hilarious parts of the show as audience members did their best to distract the contestants.

◊ As shown in the video, one of the members of Red Cabbage was so rattled by audience members that he was beat down in Punch Out!! by Glass Joe. To put that in perspective, a good Punch Out!! player could literally beat Glass Joe blindfolded.
